One of the beauties of retirement is to have time to spend with your family. As they say, Mum and Dad ain't getting any younger, and so for Christmas, (when I knew I was going to be retired), I bought my Mum and Dad (and me) some afternoon midweek matinee tickets for Mrs Doubtfire the musical. It's one of Mum's favourite films - she's watched it 100s of times.
Now I was a little sceptical....was I really going to a musical of a Robin Williams comedy movie at 2pm on a Wednesday. When people ask what you've been up to in retirement, I might not mention that first.
But, and I shouldn't really be surprised, it was excellent. Theatre production these days is great, and lets face it, its a very funny film, but most of all I was with my Mum who loved it. This really is what retirement is all about.
Oh, and we managed to get Dad a Fruit De Mare after, so he was very happy
