ABC: Oxfordshire: Quest: LQ:OXON - Garsington: St Mary

Summary (by AI): Despite not finding the geocache, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting the beautiful St Mary's Church and the scenic landscapes of Oxfordshire.

Blog: So, this was a little one that I stopped off at on the way back from a trip to the West Midlands and Birmingham. I'd had it logged for a little while but never quite got round to it. And again, that's the beautiful part of the ABC process: it takes you to the sort of random places you'd never normally go to. In this case, I found myself standing on a hilltop outside a little village, close to the Wittenham Clumps—you can see them in the distance.

It's called St Mary's Church, and apparently, it dates from around the late twelfth century. It's just a gorgeous place. As I said, it's on top of this little hillock; you walk through the front of the graveyard and then the vistas just open out. It's a lovely place to worship.

The cache itself was supposed to be down in the valley below the church, so I had a little wander down. The hint said it was across a little bridge over a brook, inside a log stump. But I basically just couldn't find it. I had a good look around, but when I checked the logs online, I noticed the last time it was actually found was in 2024. The only other log, from 2025, was another "did not find", so I suspect it's been compromised.

But you know what? It doesn't really matter for the ABC process. I'm not there specifically to log a find—if I don't find it, I don't find it, and that's not a problem. The main thing is that I found myself in a lovely part of Oxfordshire.
